Falconry Center in Dubrava
 
Falconry Center is situated in thick pine forest in Dubrava, only 8 km from the Šibenik city center. It is a unique place where visitors can get acquainted with mysterious life of sky hunters - falcons.

Continued tradition of the noble skill of falconry offers visitors disclosure of all secrets that a falconer must be able to live in harmony with falcon's wild nature. To those for whom one visit is not enough to satisfy their curiosity, Falconry Center offers several possibilities to get to know better the world of predatory birds organizing a one-day and five-day courses. Falconry Center is open all year round from 10 am to 5 pm. There is a coffee shop for visitors which serves warm and cold drinks. The ticket price is 10.00 KN.

Nature Park "Vransko Lake"

If you travel from Tribunj towards Zadar, you will see a natural phenomenon of closeness of two equally beautiful, but so different blues. On one hand side, there is the well-intended Adriatic coast, famous for its cleanness and beauty, and on the other, there is the largest natural lake in Croatia. As one of rare, almost untouched natural habitats of water birds with drinking water wells and the area of specific characteristics and biological diversity, on 21 July 1999, Vransko Lake, together with the surrounding area, was proclaimed a nature park.

The park covers the area of 57 km2, and by its position and characteristics, it is specific in Croatia, but also in wider European area. Vransko Lake is an unusual compromise and an extraordinary unity of land and water which gives shelter to different plants and animals offering everything they need for their life. Covered with grass, bull-rush, reed and cane, it partly resembles a meadow intersected with shallow ponds, covered with perennial flowers in magnificent colors and a multitude of butterflies, dragonflies and other insects, which is, throughout the year, favourable to birds living not only in the nature reserve, but also in the whole area of the park.

In the cane, bird lovers can have an unforgettable experience of watching the life of birds, their nesting and care for their chicks from their hiding-place.

The Cathedral of St James in Šibenik
 
The Cathedral in Šibenik is a triple nave basilica with three apses and a dome. The cathedral construction began in the Venetian Gothic style, and was completed in the Tuscan Renaissance style. This unique sacral monument is an exceptionally interesting example as the only structure without bricklaying elements, where the walls, vaults and domes were constructed by a unique technique, first used by Juraj Dalmatinac. Under his supervision, side naves, sanctuary and apsides were constructed, decorated with a frieze with 74 sculptured heads which are believed to be the portraits of eminent citizens of Šibenik.

The Cathedral in Šibenik has been on UNESCO World Heritage List since 2000.

Logorun, the "Donkey Island"
Modern way of life has threatened donkeys with extinction. To protect them and preserve them, but also to maintain the tradition of donkey race in Tribunj, in 1999, a group of Tribunj citizens founded association for protection of donkeys, "Hrvatski tovar" (Croatian donkey).

Soon after that, on the nearby Mali škoj (island), they established the First World refuge for protection of donkeys. The island soon became too small, and the donkeys were moved to Logorun or Veliki škoj. The association "Hrvatski tovar" takes care of the refuge, the donkeys and the visitors.
 

Donkey races in Tribunj

More than half a century ago, in 1952, students from Tribunj, who spent their summer holidays in their home village, organized a donkey race. The race soon became traditional, and it has been held since 1957, except for a few years break, mostly during the war.

Every year, on the first day of August, traditional Tribunj donkey races are held on the famous Tribunj waterfront. Only men from Tribunj ride the donkeys. The riders are dressed in folk costumes; the winner is the rider that comes first to the finish line, which is not always simple. It is not said in vain that a person can be as stubborn as a donkey. The race goes around the old village (i.e. the island).
 
 
Archeological findings in the area

As the surrounding area has been inhabited since ancient times, there are remains everywhere; they are the witnesses of the past. Through the peaceful landscape, with air that can be tasted with your lungs, one after another, there are archeological sites. There are archeological settlements in Vodice area, such as Velika Mrdakovica - Arauzona, Gradina Dragišća, Rakitnica, Rimska Ograđenica and Prižma. They are famous for the oldest findings which witness of the life in this area.
 
 
Antiques fair in Šibenik
 
It is held from 1 September, every Saturday from 8 am to 3 pm around the church of St Francis in Šibenik, under the sponsorship of the City of Šibenik and the association of collectors and antiquaries, Libertina.
